¨24 Hours¨ by Emily Roberson

"24 Hours"

We wake up well before the sun does
and go to school for 7 hours.
Working, thinking, analyzing, writing,
rarely pausing for a second.

And that's just the beginning.

From school, we go to practice.
Running, jumping, throwing, catching,
with maybe a water break or two.

We get home as the sky turns orange,
and are greeted by mountains of worksheets and books.
Just an hour of work per night,
from each class of course.

And once its all done,
there still must be time for
eating, showering, socializing, sleeping.

Last time I counted,
there were twenty-four hours in a day.

Our society might need to check its math.
